From Workshop Evaluations

The most important thing I learned...

"I can tell a story.  I don't need to be intimidated by a preconceived idea of what a storyteller should be."

"I can do it!  It gave me confidence."

"I learned that I have stories inside of me."

My favorite thing was...

"getting ideas about bringing the truth of the word of God into your stories."

"practicing my story and realizing my confidence was building."

"actually being able to develop the story step-by-step."

"learning the components of a good story and how it can be told from different points of view."

Other comments

"I really got a lot of ideas and am excited to try it."

"Highly recommend it!  A lot of good information and practice!"

Comments About Loren's Storytelling

"By using his storytelling gifts, Loren was able to help the congregation not just "hear" the gospel story of Palm Sunday -- but he helped create the space and environment for people to imagine they were really there.  Even though Loren used his own ideas and imagination and some theology in creating the narrative -- he didn't tell people what to think -- but rather invited them in to experience the events.  That was our goal -- for a moment to feel like we were at the same table that Jesus ate at -- that we were in the crowd when he rode into Jerusalem -- that we were remembering him along with the disciples.

It was very powerful because we were then able to share in Holy Communion just after we had experienced the story.  Loren helped us add meaning to the service.

The congregation enjoyed the storytelling.  More than that -- they were moved and shared an experience.  We will definitely be inviting him back for worship and Sunday school."
